Danny it was my honor to present right after you. I was so glad to follow someone with such a great command of the stage. I plan to talk about our story and patients' rights for the rest of my life, but I do hope to someday say remember when things used to be so hard.

Sherry, perhaps our life would have been so much easier if we had lived in Seattle. Perhaps Fred would have lived longer... But that was not the deal we were dealt. Life is often hard, but it really important to take the cards and play the game to the best of our ability. I know that my words are helping others realize the importance of using systems like the ones you describe. thank you so much for spreading my images and words.

Phil, I was so pleased to see you again. You bring such energy to all you do. I am glad my art can shake people into a new type of understanding and I so happy to know you will be there to tweet it far and wide.Regina Hollidayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14067714192642008661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6993740852730466692.post-88145854197096025782010-10-04T17:02:03.183-07:002010-10-04T17:02:03.183-07:00Such amazing work you do.
Your art isn't just...Such amazing work you do.

Your art isn't just the paintings you make: it's the revealing of the truth of what happens in healthcare. Your art shocks us out of our habituation to unacceptable practice and care.

An honor to be at the conference with you there.

PhilPhilBaumannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13168188607039308162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6993740852730466692.post-50415983079195915662010-10-04T15:03:27.287-07:002010-10-04T15:03:27.287-07:00With each brush stroke you put thoughts, dreams an...With each brush stroke you put thoughts, dreams and feelings into something people can see and touch.

I wish that you lived in an area like Seattle with Group Health Cooperative (the 580,000 members own it) where we already have full access to our medical records (Ted Eytan worked to make that happen).

In fact we gave patients read write access from the beginning and they helped pull the doctors forward. Now over 50% of all patients are online and using it. You can Refill prescriptions, E-mail doctors, Request appointments and see online medical records.

That same EHR will be used by 1 in 4 providers in the US by the time full implementation is complete. Every patient who has a doctor on it could have full access to their medical records if they simply opened it up to patients and educated the providers that it is just a new communication tool not an end itself.

The biggest challenge is in the small practices where the bulk of the providers work since they all have different systems.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15643051324986386022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6993740852730466692.post-80712948099689081452010-10-04T14:38:18.325-07:002010-10-04T14:38:18.325-07:00Regina, it was amazing watching you work your magi...Regina, it was amazing watching you work your magical paintbrush on these canvases during the e-Patients conference. But when you stood up to tell your brave story, the entire audience was deeply moved.

Never stop telling it.Danny Sandshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13724797768124039269noreply@blogger.com
