In doing further research, I discovered The Titanic Radio Page, which explains that an urgent message warning of the icefield in Titanic's path was inexplicably sent without the prefix "MSG" normally used to ensure personal delivery to the captain.

I find it interesting that you've chosen the label "Navigator" rather than "Captain" the ship you painted ... and there is no mention of "captain" anywhere in your post. I find myself wondering about how you might think about or depict the captain(s) - in the past, present and/or future of HIT.

I find myself musing about Walt Whitman's O Captain! My Captain, but I'm not sure whether or how this might fit into the narrative here.

Thanks sharing your artistic provocation (and, just to be clear, I see provocation as a positive act, based on its original meaning "to call forth").Joe McCarthyhttp://gumption.typepad.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6993740852730466692.post-24629322441485544752011-04-18T19:08:10.650-07:002011-04-18T19:08:10.650-07:00Love it, but I am probably a little partial to thi...Love it, but I am probably a little partial to this particular conference and painting. :) I remember the person saying to you it seems like everything in your life has led you to this point. We spoke about that very same thing right after Fred passed. And now we see those glorious "God moments" so often now. Were they there all the time and we just couldn't see them before? Or are we just more aware because we see a little bit more of the big picture? I can't wait to see the next act unfold.
