9:00 am Opening remarks by Regina Holliday, conference planner and founder of the Walking Gallery of Healthcare.
9:30 am Ben Merrion: Libraries Under Attack
Ben organizes Best Practices Meetings as part of a community of practice to help adult educators share knowledge related to various aspects of the adult education field including such topics as recruiting volunteers, sharing teaching strategies, and using data to inform student recruitment and teaching.
He created over 20 workshops focusing on mostly teaching strategies in the areas of basic reading and GED preparation including such topics as Adult Learning and Memory, Teaching Phonological Awareness and Teaching Visual Math. Informs the DC Council through testimony about issues facing the adult education community.
